CEBA’s Clean Energy Procurement Academy Offers Critical Training To Mitigate Scope 3 Impacts

For companies with global supply chains, a significant share of emissions lies outside their direct operations, embedded in supplier activities — particularly energy use. Addressing these Scope 3 emissions is one of the most complex challenges in corporate decarbonization.

As a result, enabling suppliers to procure clean energy has become a strategic imperative . It allows companies to drive emissions reductions at scale across their value chain while advancing toward net-zero targets.

At the same time, it helps strengthen supplier resilience, meet growing stakeholder expectations, and maintain long-term competitiveness.

Supplier clean energy procurement also helps meet growing compliance pressures from evolving disclosure and trade rules, including California’s emissions reporting requirements and the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

Turning ambition into action across APAC, however, is challenging. Clean energy procurement remains fragmented and highly market-specific, shaped by uneven market structures, complex policy environments, and limited supplier familiarity with procurement pathways such as power purchase agreements (PPAs), virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs), and renewable energy certificates (RECs)/ energy attribute certificates (EACs). The result is slow progress and a heavy lift for corporates trying to support their suppliers individually.

CEBA’s Clean Energy Procurement Academy helps close this gap by building repeatable, market-specific clean energy procurement capability at scale, equipping suppliers with practical skills, tools, and clear pathways to procure clean electricity and achieve measurable progress.

The Academy offers global training for clean energy procurement, education, and mobilization. Its goal is to use the collaborative power of large corporations and their suppliers to accelerate clean energy procurement, address Scope 3 emissions, decarbonize global supply chains, and magnify the impact by targeting some of the most carbon-intensive power grids in the world.

Academy trainings are available in person in India, Mainland China, and Vietnam, while digital training is available from anywhere across the globe with content focused on supporting suppliers in India, Indonesia, Mainland China, South Korea, and Vietnam.

In 2025, the Academy trained 781 participants representing 565 supplier companies across in-person workshops and digital courses, with 93% of participants reporting they felt more prepared to procure clean energy after the training.

The Academy is designed for CEBA members who are global companies with significant APAC supply chains and their priority suppliers who are critical to a company’s Scope 3 strategy.

To date, this initiative has been available exclusively to members of CEBA’s Academy committee. We are delighted to now open the Academy to all CEBA members to increase reach and impact across APAC, helping buyers move from ambition to action in their supply chains.

The value is practical and measurable, including accelerating supplier progress toward Scope 3 goals, strengthening supplier decision-making in volatile energy markets, reducing internal resource demands, and improving the accuracy, credibility, and consistency of supply chain reporting. The Academy combines expert-led, market-specific in-person workshops with a scalable digital academy offering localized, self-paced learning supported by real-world case studies and flexible enrollment models.

How to join the Academy

CEBA members can engage with the Academy through three pathways:

  1. Fee-Per-Seat: provides a flexible, low-commitment option to place priority suppliers into existing trainings, including both digital courses and in-person sessions, where capacity is available.
  2. Brand-Specific Training: offers exclusive trainings for your suppliers in select market(s), using either virtual or in-person options, and enables focused investment with greater flexibility and control.
  3. Academy Committee: currently comprised of a small group of committed brands and will open up to additional members starting in 2027. The Academy Committee provides a strategic advisory role and access to Academy trainings through annual or multi-year participation.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore supplier clean energy procurement or looking to scale impact across priority markets, the Clean Energy Procurement Academy can meet you where you are.

We welcome the opportunity to learn more about your clean energy journey and discuss how the Academy’s in-person trainings, Digital Academy, and virtual offerings can support your Scope 3 and supplier engagement goals. If you have suppliers in India, Indonesia, Mainland China, South Korea, and Vietnam, we can help you select the right pathway and get suppliers enrolled for 2026.
