Markus’s Bio

Markus Walther is a director on CEBA’s Energy Transactions team. His areas of focus include carbon policy and standards, impacts of carbon disclosure requirements, and voluntary corporate clean energy procurement.

Before joining CEBA, Markus was an engagement manager at McKinsey, where he advised clients on climate and sustainability strategy. His areas of expertise included net-zero targets, climate risk assessments and disclosure, and clean energy. He previously served as director of product development at a startup, where he led the development of Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures scenario analysis tools with a consortium of climate scientists and industry experts. He has also assessed utility regulations and developed financial forecasts at Exelon and covered energy, utilities, and industrials as an ESG analyst for Calvert Research and Management, a mutual fund.

Markus holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, a Master of Science in natural resources and environment from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Arts in international relations from the Graduate Institute of International and Developmental Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
